Don’t you just love it when you get a new beauty product and can’t stop smelling it? That’s how I feel about Crabtree & Evelyn’s new Avocado, Olive & Basil range. I’ve been eagerly anticipating the chance to try the latest goodies and now have my hands on the Avocado, Olive & Basil Body Lotion and Hand Therapy. One word: Wow!
As a combination, Avocado, Olive & Basil work so well together and the products are ultra moisturising so great for dry winter skin. Then there’s the delectable smell, which is fresh, uplifting and wholesome – but not overpowering in any way, so won’t interfere with your perfume or aftershave. Yes, the avocado products are also man friendly. In fact, I know my friend David will go crazy for them and I may have to hide my Hand Therapy from him!
Using the new Avocado range has also reminded me how much I love eating avocados. So I thought I’d share this quick and healthy recipe for Ultimate Avocado, Basil and Prawn Toasts…
Ingredients
1 avocado
Half a packet of king prawns
A handful of fresh basil
Half a lemon
2 slices of good quality bread
A few sundried tomatoes
Method
1. De-skin your avocado and slice up, and then place in a food processor. Add a good squeeze of lemon, a handful of basil and whizz up the ingredients until combined.
2. Toast your bread. Light rye bread works really well, and I used Polish rye bread. Next, spread the avocado mixture on the toasted slices of bread and top with king prawns.
3. Now for the finishing touches. Arrange slithers of sundried tomatoes on top, and then add a couple of leaves of basil and season with pepper. Enjoy!
Serves 1 (Double the ingredients for more eaters)
Top tip – you could adapt this recipe to make party canapés. Just cut the toasted bread into bite-sized squares, top with one prawn, a basil leaf and sundried tomato.
