Beat the big chill with these winter warmers!

Winter gloves

My hands have only just thawed out enough for me to type this blog post! Yes, like most people I’d already heard from the news that we’d be in for freezing weather but I didn’t realise it would be this cold. *shivers*

Last week I was happily planning my spring/summer wardrobe and dreaming of floating along on a hot day in a maxi dress and sandals. But now I’ve resorted to trawling the web for thermals and big cosy jumpers.

In my quest to beat the big chill I’ve been trying all kinds of things, here are my top tips to warm up…

Bath time

Taking a hot bath is not just a great way to relax, but to warm up. Plus, if you have the winter lurgy steam can help with congestion – this was actually advice from my GP. For the ultimate bath time treat I’d recommend using a La Source Bath Tablet. I love watching them fizz away and the lovely shade of blue they turn the bath water. It’s the most reasonable way to get a spa experience at home.

Happy feet

My choice way to warm up cold feet is with the La Source Warming Foot Smoother, which heats up as you apply it and gently sloths away rough skin. It might seem like sandal weather is a long way off, but it’s always a good idea to take care of your feet and have them ‘pedi ready’ at all times. After all, you never know when someone might whisk you away. OK, in my case that usually means a work trip to chilly Manchester, but a girl can dream.

Be cosy at home

Creating a cosy atmosphere at home can give you a lovely sense of wellbeing and makes you very happy you don’t have to be out there battling against the elements. While candles might not give off much heat, they do create a warming mood. For this time of year I’d recommend the Pomegranate, Argan & Grapeseed Scented Candle, which has a sweet uplifting fragrance.

Hot drinks

A hot cup of coffee is my must-have accessory on my journey to the office because it heats up my ice-cold hands. I do wear gloves but sometimes even they are not enough. I’ve also been drinking a lot of Crabtree & Evelyn Earl Grey Tea, which is great for dunking biscuits – especially White Chocolate and Raspberry Biscuits. I once read that you burn more calories in cold weather. I don’t need to know if there is any medical evidence behind this because I love any excuse to eat an extra biscuit!
