Isn’t it amazing how fragrances have the power to transport you back to a moment in time, or remind you of a certain person? Of course, this can be a good and a bad thing. Sometimes I cringe if I catch a whiff of an aftershave an ex used to wear, or a body spray that reminds me of the girls’ changing rooms at school (I hated PE classes). But I’ll always love the smells that remind me of holidays, birthdays and my favourite people.
While it’s nice to move forwards with new products – my current faves being the Avocado, Olive & Basil range – I also feel nostalgic about those classic products I wouldn’t want to be without.
Over the years, my beauty journalist friend, Posh Emma, has introduced me to so many fab products I’ve become addicted to. Even when we were at university, she was an authority on beauty buys – and in more recent times is the reason I fell in love with the very stylish India Hicks Scented Candle (she was given one as a gift and I was very jealous!).
Last year, Posh Emma was disappointed when the classic Jojoba Oil Triple Milled Shell Soap ceased being stocked in C&E stores – but she was pleased when I was later able to tell her that it had made a comeback and she could stock up on them. I love that soap, too, because it has a magical mermaid feel, from the outer packaging to the shell shape of the soap, which feels so lovely to hold.
From reading your posts and reviews on Crabtree & Evelyn products, I know a lot of you get nostalgic about beauty buys as well. So I’m interested to know which classic Crabtree & Evelyn products you can’t live without and which products you’d like to see make a comeback.
